Pakistan Saves Face By Appointing Sherry Rehman As New U.S. Ambassador
Never expected that Pakistan will send Sherry Rehman as next ambassador to the United States. I didn’t expect it because she is one of the very few strong, educated, opinionated, liberal woman who had quit her job as Information Minister to honor her commitment to the media. I didn’t expect it because Ms. Rehman is one [...]
Husain Haqqani sacrificed for peace with Taliban
As I had written yesterday Ambassador (Former) Husain Haqqani was dumped by his friends in the Capital to secure an exit strategy from Afghanistan. It is not surprising that Pakistani Taliban announced ceasefire on the same day when Husain Haqqani resigned. His friends in Washington DC are mainly concerned about ”Pakistan’s cooperation in the Afghanistan war,” [...]
Hussain Haqqani for Haqqani Network?
I am afraid Ambassador Hussain Haqqani has been dumped by his friends in Washington DC. After speaking to several people in the capital yesterday I get a bad feeling that Husain Haqqani has been sacrficed by the folks who claim to uphold “democratic values,” in order to get Haqqani Network on the negotiating table. The [...]

There are many ideas – everyone is passionate about their “2 cents.” And, that’s how it should be. When I comment on these threads my friends often remind me that I should not have an opinion [...]
Happy Halloween and here is Google Halloween Doodle 2011
Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays and that’s not because I get to see weird costumes. Living in East Village of New York City I get to see plenty of interesting people, costumes and acts around the year. I actually like going trick-or-treating with my kids in the neighborhood. I have done [...]
Pervez Musharraf – Popular or Infamous?
Musharaff told his audience in Washington last week that he enjoys popular support in Pakistan. He said, “when I resigned from my presidency, many, many people were crying in Pakistan. There were six cameramen who were filming me and four of them were crying right in front of me and it was a great distraction because I was speaking at that time.” What he didn’t say is that after he left, nearly 40 million poverty stricken Pakistanis have been crying because of his economic adventurism. Is he popular or infamous?
